Get Involved - Delegates
Attending HLISMUN as a delegate is a unique and unforgettable experience which grants you the opportunity to practice diplomacy, meet new friends, and debate pressing real-world topics; much like the real United Nations assembly. As a delegate, you will be assigned a country to represent, and a council in which to represent this country. As a delegate, you do not represent your own values, rather those of your country. Similar to other MUN conferences, you must be mindful not to use personal pronouns and to address other delegates by their respective roles. Remember, in the United Nations, you are representing a country and not your personal beliefs or views.
As a delegate, you may be put in positions where you need to debate on or represent issues that your personal ideals may not necesarily align with. Please be aware that if you are unable to accurately represent your allocated countries’ views in a way which is productive to the debate, you may be reassigned to another country or reminded to adhere to the rules of procedure.
There are multiple ways to attend HLISMUN.
Option 1 - Through Your Academic Institution
The HLISMUN organization contacts over 50 schools a year who might be interested in attending HLISMUN. If your school hasn’t recieved an invitation, don’t worry! You can ask your MUN Director or Teacher to send us an email at stumun@halcyonschool.com. Please note that your school is only eligible to become affiliated if it has an active Model UN club or similar program at your school. If this is not the case, proceed to option two.
Option 2 - Non-Affiliated Entry
In order to maximise accesibility to all students accross the city and country, the HLISMUN organization has developed a non-affiliated student delegate (NAS) program to ensure everyone can sign up. As a non-affiliated student, you are able to register and attend HLISMUN just like anyone else, just without needing your school to have an MUN club. Please note that entry as a NAS is conditional on safeguarding policies and requires supervision from a Parent/Guardian - as it would require a two day absence from your place of study. You can read more about these policies in our Delegate Handbook.
⚠️ If you are attending HLISMUN via invitation from your High School or College, do not sign up via the link below.
