About Us

We are Halcyon MUN.

Our Mission: To foster a future where every student is politically literate.

Since our founding in 2013, HLISMUN has been and continues to be 100% student driven and non-profit. From the administrators who keep our conferences running, to the Board of Directors, and even the person who made this website, everything is organized by student volunteers who are extremely passionate about what they do. We are 100% driven by a love of diplomacy and by passing this love down to future generations. We fundamentally understand the pivotal role MUN conferences like ours play in such a polarized world, which is why we continue to do what we do.

The Halcyon London International School Model United Nations conference is one of the largest international High School Model United Nations conferences in London, and has been running for over 13 consecutive years. HLISMUN aims to provide young people from diverse backgrounds with the opportunity to become familiar with politics, real-world issues, and debate. Model United Nations conferences foster many hard and soft skills in young people, such as public speaking, debating, research, formal writing skills, and socializing.

Every year, our conference aims to cover a variety of subjects across different councils, much like the real United Nations. Our conferences represent almost every member state of the United Nations, and we offer councils for debaters of all skill levels.

Eight London schools attended the inaugural conference, which was held in three rooms: the Security Council, Environmental Committee, and Disarmament Committee. The conference was opened by Baroness Julia Neuberger, a life peer in the British House of Lords, who shared anecdotes about her time in government and her work in Northern Ireland. Since this initial conference, we have grown tremendously, hosting over 200 students annually.

We aim to one day become the UK’s number one organization for youth political literacy, following the belief that every student should have the chance to learn and experience diplomacy.
