For schools, HalcyonMUN is more than a debate event. It is an academic enrichment opportunity that supports global citizenship, political literacy, student confidence, and real-world communication skills.
Why Bring Students to HalcyonMUN?
HalcyonMUN gives students a serious but supportive environment in which to engage with global issues. Delegates are expected to research their assigned country, understand their committee topics, speak formally, work with others, and develop written resolutions.
Students leave with practical experience in a plethora of both hard and soft skills.
For many students, MUN is one of the first opportunities to speak publicly on complex global issues while representing a viewpoint different from their own.

Schools are responsible for ensuring students are supervised appropriately throughout the conference. Depending on the size of the delegation, schools may be asked to provide one or more chaperones.
Chaperones must be familiar with HalcyonMUN policies, attend the required Health & Safety briefing on arrival, remain contactable throughout the day, and support their students in following conference expectations. Chaperones are responsible for their students and must take appropriate action if students breach conference policies.

HalcyonMUN aims to support all delegates wherever reasonably possible. The building has an elevator for delegates with access requirements, and schools should disclose any accessibility needs, SEND requirements, allergies, or dietary needs during the delegate information submission process.
Please disclose these needs early. Late disclosures may not always be possible to accommodate. We will always do our best to accommodate all attendees.

HalcyonMUN is a student-led, non-profit conference committed to keeping Model United Nations as accessible as possible.
Our state school rate is already heavily discounted in order to reduce financial barriers for students and schools. For this reason, we do not usually provide additional subsidies as standard.
However, in exceptional circumstances, HalcyonMUN may consider additional fee support or discounted access on a case-by-case basis. This may include students eligible for Free School Meals, schools facing financial barriers, or other situations where cost may prevent participation.
Requests for additional support should be made by a teacher, chaperone, parent/guardian, or school representative as early as possible. Support is not guaranteed and will depend on the circumstances, available capacity, and the sustainability of the conference.

Halcyon London International School is located in central London at 33 Seymour Place, W1H 5AU.
Delegates and schools are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from the conference. Please allow extra time for London traffic, public transport delays, security checks, and registration.
The venue is close to several major transport links, including stations around Marylebone, Marble Arch, Edgware Road, Baker Street, and Paddington.
Students should travel with their school group, chaperone, parent/guardian, or agreed supervisor. HalcyonMUN is not responsible for delegates before they arrive at the venue or after they leave the conference site.

International schools are warmly welcome at HalcyonMUN. Visiting delegations are responsible for arranging their own flights, visas, accommodation, airport transfers, insurance, meals outside the conference, and supervision.
Our team is experienced in providing schools with the best experience possible whilst visiting the United Kingdom. Please get in touch with us, and we will be more than happy to arrange discounted local accommodation, customized itineraries, and discounts on a variety of activities and tours.
International schools should check UK entry requirements well in advance. HalcyonMUN cannot provide immigration advice, but we can confirm conference attendance where appropriate after registration has been confirmed.
International delegations should also ensure that:
Students have valid travel documents
Visas or Electronic Travel Authorisations, where required, are arranged in advance
Students have appropriate travel insurance
Emergency contacts are available throughout the trip
Chaperones remain responsible for students outside conference hours
Arrival and departure times do not conflict with the conference schedule
Delegations arriving from outside London should plan extra time for airport transfers and central London transport.

We encourage attending schools to put forward one or two experienced students to participate as Student Officers. Participation as a Student Officer is separate from the delegate registration process.
Participating as a council chair is an excellent opportunity for students to participate in a different way than they usually would, in addition to developing key leadership and critical thinking skills. Participating as a Chair is invaluable for any student’s CV.
Students must complete an independent application form, and the supervising teacher must provide a letter of recommendation
