Thank you for considering your application as a Student Officer to HalcyonMUN. Student Officers are invaluable to our operations, and we are grateful for your time and effort. Please read below for information on the application process. If you are reporting a Student Officer, please click here.

Initial submission of the application, including a letter of recommendation from the student(s) MUN director/chaperone, received by academics.mun@halcyonschool.com. Please note applications will not be reviewed until a recommendation letter has been received. If you have written any research reports before you should also share it with our Academics team at this stage.
Conditional offer of attendance and initial confirmation/allocation of council.
Invitation to interview for the position with a member of our Academics team. Interviews are conducted via Google Meet. The aim of this interview is for our team to understand candidates knowledge of the Rules of Procedure, their prior experience, and English proficiency.
Confirmation of allocation and information for resolution writing is shared, if selected for writing.

We suggest giving as much detail as possible in your application, as this greatly helps our Academics team in the decision-making process.
Please use formal, academic writing in your application, as this is also a way to understand your written English proficiency.
All submissions will be checked for the use of AI. Please note that submissions believed to be AI-generated will not be considered.

Please note that Student Officers must be available to attend the Student Officer dinner, which will be held in the weeks leading up to the event.
Please note that even if your application is approved, the limited availability of spaces means that you might not be invited to participate as a Chair. Visiting chairs must be affiliated with a partner academic institution (a school that has confirmed or is planning to confirm attendance) and are subject to their own entry fee. Groups must wait for confirmation of attendance for student officer applicants before payment, and must also provide alternative assignments should applications be rejected.
Visiting chairs may be selected to write research report(s) for the council they are allocated to. Chaperones will be copied in all correspondence, and failure to complete research reports before deadlines will result in the immediate void of the student(s) attendance without refund.
To apply as a Student Officer, you must be in good standing with the organization and have no previous infractions.

Student Officer misconduct is defined as any behavior that is not in alignment with HalcyonMUN’s policies. You can find the Student Officer handbook, which includes further guidance on this topic, under Resources.
Any misconduct will result in the Student Officer’s immediate dismissal, with further action being taken at the discretion of the Secretariat and as per policy.
