Student Officers are overseen and coordinated by the Head of Operations and Heads of Logistics.
Administrators
Administrators (Admins) are at the forefront of conference organization and coordination, serving as the operational arm of the Logistics department on behalf of the Board of Directors. Administrators are the first point of contact for delegates and visiting staff, and ensure that the conference remains enjoyable, productive, and safe. Additionally, they assist Chairs within debate by securing doors, passing notes, and ensuring that any issues that arise are handled promptly. In addition, they complete various miscellaneous tasks throughout the day. Only HLIS students can become Administrators.
Chairs
Chairs are responsible for running the council to which they are assigned. Chairs are impartial to the debate and uphold debate procedure by deciding what resolutions or amendments are debated, which delegates speak, and how the debate unfolds. Chairs are responsible for ensuring their conferences run smoothly and adhere to the schedule. Chairs are extremely experienced MUNers, often with several years under their belts. Additionally, they are excellent organizers, leaders, and communicators, and are expected to always present themselves accordingly. Chairs are quintessential to the conference; the nature of the role demands the most capable people.
If you are interested in becoming a visiting chair, please complete an application using the button below. Please note that even if your application is approved, the limited availability of spaces means that you might not be invited to participate as a Chair. Visiting chairs must be affiliated with a partner academic institution (a school that has confirmed or is planning to confirm attendance) and are subject to their own entry fee. Groups must wait for confirmation of attendance for student officer applicants before payment, and must also provide alternative assignments should applications be rejected.
Visiting chairs are required to write research report(s) for the council they are allocated to. Chaperones will be copied in all correspondence, and failure to complete research reports before deadlines will result in the immediate void of the student(s) ‘ ’ attendance without refund.
The process for visiting chairs is as follows:
Initial submission of the application, including a letter of recommendation from the student(s) MUN director/chaperone, received by academics.mun@halcyonschool.com.
Conditional offer of attendance and initial confirmation/allocation of council.
Invitation to interview for the position with a member of our Academics team. Interviews are conducted via Google Meet. Applicants will be questioned on their knowledge of the Rules of Procedure, their prior experience, and their English proficiency.
Confirmation of allocation and information for resolution writing is shared.
